Apply for Certification

DPA is involved with the certification of petroleum geologists, coal geologists and petroleum geophysicists with the improvement of all AAPG members' professional well-being.

Certification as a petroleum geologist (CPG), a coal geologist (CCG) or a petroleum geophysicist requires a special application and is not automatic with membership in AAPG. For more information regarding DPA membership.

Reciprocal Applicants

A hard copy of your application must be sent to AAPG either by fax or mail. Please sign your application and have it notarized before sending to AAPG. Addresses and fax information are included at the bottom of this page.

Reinstatement

Reinstatement applicants must be an active member of the AAPG and had previously been a certified member of the Division of Professional Affairs (DPA) of the AAPG.

Reinstatement procedure requires that you follow the instructions outlined on the form and return it with certification dues in the amount of $40.00 U.S. dollars (certification dues are in addition to your Association dues).
